HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNN!!

This is the final cake that was made at my last class of course 1. I also made it for my Aunt's birthday. It's a white cake with vienna creme filling. The wilton roses were a little difficult as my icing would not cooperate. I am gearing up to take course 2 and gain some more experience. I will keep updating as I progress.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CIARA!!

One of the cutest babies ever had a birthday party this weekend. Here is the cake that her mom asked me to make for her. Ciara's favorite T.V. show right now is Wonder Pets, so the cake is Wonder Pet themed. This was the first time that I have done a sheet cake.

WILTON - LESSON #3

Here is my cake from Tuesday's class. I made this cake for one of my mom's daycare kids. His birthday was on Wednesday, so I made it for his party that we had at the house. Andrew picked Funfetti cake mix. I also used raspberry filling and butter cream icing. During class we learned how to do figure piping, drop flowers, shell borders, and Wilton roses. I used the figure piping method for the clown bodies. Andrew loved his cake and there was none left after the party which is a big compliment!!

WILTON - LESSON #2

So here is my cake that I decorated during my second class. This was a new adventure for me working with just icing and tips. I have been working mostly with fondant in all of my previous cakes. I like working with icing more than fondant...and it tastes better too!

During this class we worked with star and round tips. I learned how to fill in with the star tip, how to do zig zag borders and how to write with the round tips.

I am looking forward to next weeks class, we get to work on making roses.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!

Here is a birthday cake that I made for my dad. It was hard to come up with a idea for a masculine cake. This is a white cake with raspberry filling. The cake is covered in blue fondant. I hand cut the diamonds (I really need to buy a diamond cutter) from green fondant and then I mixed the blue and green fondant together and cut out the little circles.

WILTON HERE I COME!!!

Tonight was my first lesson of cake decorating at my favorite cake supply store....Cake Castle. I am taking a 4 week course and tonight was the first night. There was no hands on experience tonight...but I did get to taste some frosting and eat some cake and it was yummy. After each lesson I will be posting a short note on my class experience and take a picture of each week's cake. After the four weeks is up, I can move onto course 2, which is also a four week course, and continue onto course 3 and then finally course 4. After all is said and done I will have had 16 lessons. Should be interesting to see how I progress!!

FOR ERIN

Here is a cake that I made for my co-worker Erin in honor of her birthday. This is a chocolate cake with raspberry filling. This is my first adventure into using fillings. I covered the cake with fondant and added flower fondant cut outs.

DRAMATIC DOTS

I made this polka dot cake for my friend and former high school drama teacher who mentored me for the past 4 years. I plan on surprising her with it tomorrow when I see her. I really like using the fondant on the cakes.

This is a marble cake with butter cream and cream cheese frostings. I tinted the fondant brown to cover the cake and then tinted some of the fondant pink to make the polka dots and the bottom ribbon.

SWEET BEGINNINGS

So here it is...my first cake. For those of you that know me, you will know that I am a perfectionist, some might call it a little OCD. However I really wanted my first creation to turn out well. To my delight it turned out GREAT!! I am so pleased with the final result.

This is a golden vanilla cake with butter cream icing. White fondant covers the entire cake and the primary colored flowers are also made from fondant. I am also pleased to announce that it tastes as good as it looks!
